The weather’s hot, school is out, and the fireworks are ready! Hope you’re enjoying your holiday festivities.
DL has some exciting gigs coming up this month, starting with a return to Explo at Yale to teach and perform for their high school students on 7/6 and 7/28. While those performances are private, you can come see Jake with some of Boston’s best stand-up comics in The Sky at Aeronaut Brewery on Sunday, 7/9 at 7:30PM.
In August, Drunken Logic will return to the Lucky Seven Concert Series at Faneuil Hall with their full lineup to play originals and covers for FREE — swing by on Thursday, 8/10 at 7PM. Then Jake and Mark will play at GreenFest on City Hall Plaza at noon on Saturday, 8/12.
In the midst of all of this, we have some other plans we’re working on — not the least of which is our third album, which we’ve been recording for a few months now. We can’t tell you everything we’re thinking about yet, but we will have some very big announcements in the next couple of months.
Stay tuned, and stay cool! Hope to see you out in the sun very soon.
Hi everyone! Many thanks to everyone at SENEFest for having us again, and coming out to hear us and watch our video. What a great night!
May is still busy for us, as we’ve got three acoustic gigs coming up. Our first is at Night Shift Brewery in Everett on Tuesday, May 9 at 7PM — it’s part of a stand-up comedy showcase called Hell Yeah with our friend Sam Ike! We can’t wait for a night full of beer and laughs with Sam and other great local comics like Kelly MacFarland and Towanda Gona. Admittance is FREE, but 21+. Can’t wait to see you there!
We’ve also got a two gig day on 5/13 — Jake will be performing at Somerville PorchFest at the corner of Jay St. and Howard St. from 4-6PM, and then we’ll return to Smoke Shop BBQ in Cambridge at 9PM as well. Additionally, we’ll be back at the Shops at Long Wharf in Newport RI on Sunday 5/28 at 1PM. We’re anticipating your requests already! And of course, we’ll play plenty of songs of our own as well.
Also, keep an eye out for Jake at Faneuil Hall on Thursdays this month — he’ll be making his triumphant return very soon.
One more thing — our website got a little makeover! You should check it out if you haven’t already. Many thanks as always to Danny Cassman for his help.
Summer is almost here! We’ve got some exciting plans to perform and record over the next few months. And we can’t wait to spend those months with you guys.
Season’s greetings! By season, I mean the season that should have ended weeks ago. Seriously. We hope your sidewalks and driveways aren’t obstacles courses anymore.
Speaking of “What A Beautiful Morning,” it is now available on iTunes, Spotify, and everywhere else you can buy music online.
Lastly, we returned to the studio a couple of weeks ago! We’ve got a lot of written material to work on, and the plan is to keep recording throughout the year. No major plans yet, but we’re excited to develop some new stuff for you to hear, and you will definitely get glimpses of it at some of our shows. (Shout out to everyone who came to McGann’s).
Stay warm and stay woke! We’ll see you soon.
“Sometimes things just fall together in the right way and you find yourself in a band where the sum of the parts may be greater than the whole; and you make great music cooperatively. Case in point: Jake Cassman (piano and vocals), Austin Wells (lead guitar and vocals) and Ryan Jordan (rhythm guitar, keys, mandolin and vocals), as individually talented a trio as you can find today in New England.”
We hope your 2017 is looking up. As much as we can be upbeat about it, anyways…
We want to help you improve your outlook on this young year, and we’ve got two great shows coming up that should help. This Saturday, Jake and Austin will take the DL acoustic show to The Smoke Shop BBQ! Join us on 2/4 for requests, originals, good grub and tasty drinks. Should be some great lowkey fun!
If you’re looking for something high energy, however, you won’t want to miss our show at McGann’s on Friday, 2/24! Sponsored by our friends at WEMF, the lineup features great bands like Pompo, Moonstone Lady and Long Arm Rex — and the whole thing is hosted by local legend Dave Crespo! And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, it’s also Jake’s 27th birthday. So come celebrate with us! 7:30 doors // 21+ // $10 at the door, $8 advance.
As fun a show as the McGann’s gig will be, it will still be a bittersweet night. 2/24 will be Ryan’s last live show with us for awhile — he will be working on our new album with us this year, but needs time to work on other projects. So come and share his last gig with us for awhile! He can teach you how to stare down the future like this:
See you this month everybody! Be well.
